Big Brothers Big SistersServing Lackawanna, Susquehanna, and Wayne Counties - Making a difference...one child at a time.
The mission of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program is to help children reach their potential through professionally supported one-to-one relationships with measurable impact.
There are three different types of programs that Big Brothers Big Sisters offers:
Community
Based Programs
Matches an adult volunteer (“Big”) with a child (“Little”) and they get together in the community. “Bigs” and “Littles” have fun together creating memories that last a lifetime. We call it “Little Moments…Big Magic.” Research on our volunteer programs points to the powerful, positive, lasting impact “Bigs” have on children’s lives.
School Based Programs
Matches high school students or college students with elementary or jr. high students. School based programs have shown to be effective in helping the socio-emotional needs of elementary or jr. high students. The program helps students improve their social skills and gives them confidence in the academic setting.
Site Based Program
Matches employees from local organizations with children, and takes place at an office, a community room, or church. All programs provide the support needed to have successful relationships for children who need and want them.
