SHINE |

SHINE (Self Help Information Network Exchange) is a
clearinghouse responsible for the growth, development, and promotion of
mutual help and support groups in Lackawanna and Wayne counties. SHINE is
one of three clearinghouses in Pennsylvania and serves over 170 groups.
Click on a link to the right to find a group. These groups include substance abuse, addiction, prevention, physical and mental health, family issues, and Neighborhood associations. SHINE provides workshops, consultations, and information and referrals. SHINE is home to the local RADAR (Regional Alcohol and Drug Awareness Resource) Center. Through the resource center, SHINE is able to access informational data bases, secure materials, and network with other prevention professionals around the United States. SHINE also houses a lending library that is free and open to the public. Resources include books, audio and video tapes, as well as pamphlets on topics such as drug and alcohol abuse, family issues, physical and mental health issues, women's issues, and parenting. Funding for SHINE is made possible through the Lackawanna County Commission on Drug & Alcohol Abuse and Lackawanna, Susquehanna, and Wayne County Mental Health, Mental Retardation programs.
