TAX COUNSELING FOR THE ELDERLY (TCE)

For the past 30 years, the Voluntary Action Center has assisted Lackawanna County senior taxpayers through its Tax Counseling for the Elderly Program (TCE).   In 2010 alone, the TCE Program assisted over 400 Lackawanna County taxpayers.

The TCE Program (sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service) offers free tax information and preparation to people who are 60 years of age or older.  Highly competent, trained (IRS Certified) volunteers prepare the following forms: 

• 1040
• 1040A
• 1040EZ
• PA Property Tax/Rent Rebate
• State Income Tax
• PACE
• Local tax forms.

Assistance is provided February through April 15th by appointment only at handicapped accessible locations in Lackawanna County. Call 570-347-5616 to schedule an appointment.  When you speak to the scheduler, you will be given location information and will also be told the required documents you must bring with you.
